The visit itself is exceptional: the studios are a wonder! However, the shuttle is super expensive: we paid 488€ for 2 adults+2 children +1 child under 4, whereas the studio tickets would have been 201€ only if purchased directly. A 287€ transfer for 5 seems expensive considering the guide is simply checking names. It’s a 1h bus drive (depending on traffic). The time on site was too short to enjoy fully: arrival at 11am, it took 15min to collect tickets and get into the studio. Another 20/30 min queue to actually start the tour, which is at least 3 hours long if you really take your time to enjoy it. Green screen broomstick flight experience is really cool, but it will take at least 30 min as there’s a long queue for the activity, then to the cashier. With a departure at 3:30pm sharp, we felt that we had to rush through the last rooms, and didn’t have time to eat at the Backlot café which was overcrowded when we reached it. An additional 1h on-site would be better.
It was my second visit to the studios. Since we booked relatively spontaneously (approx. 1 month in advance), the tickets at WB were sold out straight away. There they cost about half as much. But you also have to travel there on your own…that works quite well from London with a regional train and a shuttle service (I think 1 or 2 pounds) from the train station. Traveling by coach was more comfortable. Especially in the evening it was very pleasant to be taken directly into the city by bus. The meeting point was a bit inconspicuous and hidden. There wasn’t a guide, but I didn’t think it was a bad thing either. I would book these tickets again at any time because it was more relaxed. However, you shouldn’t forget that you only have 4-4.5 hours in the studios. But I think you could stay there for days anyway. So that’s ok too…
O.M.G! I had a blast! I loved the different sections that represented various aspects for the books/movies. They even had a scavenger hunt like activity during the trip. I loved how the staff made you feel welcome and a part of something big. It was magical. This excursion did not disappoint!
